Sinking of the Lusitania

The Lusitania sunk off Irish coast

The great Cunard liner Lusitania was torpedoed by a German submarine off the South Coast of Ireland yesterday afternoon and sunk. She was on a voyage from New York to Liverpool, and was within a few hours steaming of her home port

Feared loss of 1,500 lives
It is understood they thought the ship would float. She sank in 15 to 25 minutes and it is reported she was struck by two torpedoes
Motive behind the crime
The diabolical character of Germany's action must rivet attention, but it is essential the British public are not distracted
